Become a More Powerful and Engaging Public Speaker
More than 30 million presentations take place each day around the globe, according to multiple sources. Public speaking is extremely important in the business world, as communicating well with your clients is the key driver of sales and a growing your ROI.
It can be difficult to improve your public speaking skills. Many people have a phobia of speaking in front of a large audience, and it’s easy to become flustered or nervous. Planning the Presentation
When planning a presentation, there are six questions you should ask yourself:
- What is your objective?
- Who is your audience?
- How will you structure your presentation?
- How will you create impact?
- How will you design and display visual aids?
- How will you stage your presentation?
Once you think about and develop your answers you will have a firm plan for a successful speech. It’s important to be prepared – go over your presentation multiple times so you are familiar with your materials, and perform it for family or friends so you can practice in front of an audience. Visual aids create interest, so use charts or illustrations in your presentation. Numbers tell a story, so utilize facts and percentages to show the audience that you are worth trusting.
Performing the Presentation
Once you’re in the spotlight make sure you take deep breaths. Drink some water to avoid dry mouth, and slow down while enunciating clearly. Make sure to deliver eye contact with your audience and speak in an engaging tone. If you’re excited about your materials, they will be too.
